How to Start Your Day Out Right

One of the things I learned a long time ago is to look at every morning as a brand-new day. While there can be things that are unpleasant in my life, a new day gives me an opportunity to look at life a little differently and start over. The same can go for you if you start your day out right.

That’s what we’re going to talk about today.

The advantages of having a plan for starting your day

The one constant in life is it changes daily. Some changes can be considered better than others, making that day a “good” one. If you start your day out right, you have a much better chance of making each day a good one.

While I’m sure you already know that a nutritious breakfast is crucial to helping you get though the day, a good diet isn’t the only thing you need to start your day out right.

For example, researchers have found that people who wake up and exercise regularly are much less likely to have a heart attack than those who have the habit of going to bed and getting up late.

Those are just a couple of examples. Let’s take a look at 5 simple things you can do to start your day out right.

Five Tips for starting your day off right

1.    Drink water

After sleeping all night your body is slightly dehydrated. Since the average adult human body is between 50-65% water, you need to rehydrate yourself. A great way to do this is to drink between four and eight ounces soon after you get up.

In addition to rehydration, drinking water first thing in the morning boosts your metabolism. Water also ensures that your organs are working correctly and helps your body get rid of waste products.

If you don’t already have the habit of drinking water early, start with a small glass of water. Over time, you can add more.

2.    Give your self-esteem a boost

Your day will go much better if you give yourself a self-esteem boos early each day. What do you need to do to start your day out right?

Do you need to put on some nice clothes?

Do you need to treat yourself to a cup of freshly ground coffee?

What works best for you?

Give yourself something that will help you feel special at the beginning part of your day. Giving yourself some self-love at the start of your day will help boost your self-esteem and get you ready to take on the rest of the day.

3.    Get your body moving.

Many people, and you may be one of them, simply don’t have it in them to run for 5 miles or lift weights for an hour first thing in the morning. That’s fine, because you don’t have to become an exercise fanatic to start your day out right.

However, a simple regular exercise program, like a 10 to 15-minute yoga session or a quick jog a couple of times around the block can have an equally positive effect.

Just a few minutes of physical training in the morning can give you the energy you need to start your day on the right foot.

4.    Get up earlier than the others you live with.

I get it. This one can be hard to do. But getting up earlier than everyone else in your household will give you the “me” time you need to organize your day before everyone around you is awake.

When you have time to yourself, you have control over how your day starts. By starting it on a positive note, you’ll find that, more often than not, this beneficial effect will continue to last throughout the day.

5.    Take a moment to be grateful

Life is a gift. Gratitude is simply remembering that life is a gift and then acknowledging the good happening in it. Taking a few minutes to focus on what you are grateful for helps change your perspective and is one of the best ways to start your day out right.

An advantage that people who practice the act of reminding themselves of the things they have in their lives is they tend to be more optimistic. This sense of optimism can lead to seeing and taking advantage of any new opportunities that come up.

Use these tips to start your day out right

You might not be a morning person (yet) but hopefully you can see the advantages of drinking water, exercising, doing good things for yourself, and remembering to be grateful for being alive.
