How to Harness the Power of Mindfulness

Have you heard about the power of mindfulness? Mindfulness helps reduce stress, improves focus and efficiency and can reprogram your brain to calmer so you can better respond to trying events in your life.

Making Time for Mindfulness

When your day is full, it can be hard to make time for things that are good for you. It’s easy to overlook things that build you up such as exercise and mindfulness. But, to get the most from life, you need to make room for the things that strengthen your mind, body and spirit.

Mindfulness can help you gain a deeper appreciation for yourself and the world around you. By learning to control your thinking, you are better able to solve problems while reducing negative patterns in your life.  The insights you gain through the power of mindfulness helps you to channel life’s experiences and knowledge in a way that helps you discover a more effective path through life.

Steps to Harness the Power of Mindfulness

Mindfulness can be a tool for change. By becoming aware, you can adopt a different perspective, which can lead you toward true success. All it takes is to set aside a little time to practice mindfulness every day.

You Can Begin to Harness the Power of Mindfulness With These Simple Strategies:

1.     Make practicing mindfulness a priority.

We already know that you’re a busy person. Since you’re busy, you’re not going to spend time practicing mindfulness on a regular basis unless you make it a priority.

You can learn to be more mindful each day if you take the time to practice regularly. Decide that you’re going to spend some time alone each day to become more aware.

2.     Put it in your schedule.

If you don’t put your mindfulness practice into your schedule, it probably won’t happen. You have a specific time for meals, going to bed, or watching TV. Include a specific time to harness the power of mindfulness too.

3.     Have a purpose.

Mindfulness is about paying attention instead of staring out the window and daydreaming. Determine how you are going to use your mindfulness practice. What are you paying attention to?  Plan your practice before you begin.

How You Can Use Mindfulness

1.     Let go of your day.

You can use mindfulness to let go of the events of the day. As you stay focused, tell yourself, “Here and now, I am here and now.” Keep that thought in your mind as you pay attention to your breathing. Whenever another thought tries to enter your mind – let it go.

2.     Let go of your challenges.

Some challenges are daunting. Instead of spending time on the challenge, allow them to float away, at least for a little while. This is an excellent way to harness the power of mindfulness. By allowing yourself to come back to the here and now, you give your mind space to find another perspective. This leads us to number three.

3.     Search for solutions.

As you let go of the challenges you are clinging to, you make space for solutions. What you might find is solutions start to bubble up in your mind during your practice. If they do, keep a notepad close by, capture the ideas, and then go back to your practice.

After your mindfulness practice, ask yourself, “What are some possible solutions to my challenges? What can I do right now? What can you I do in the future to avoid making a similar mistake?”
