Have you ever found yourself so immersed in a task that you completely lose track of time? You found that our concentration increased, your productivity skyrocketed and your enjoyment of the task went through the roof?
How often do you experience what I just described?
Most of the time, our brains feel like they’re scattered in a thousand different places.
As a result our productivity is low. Our concentration is scattered all over the place. Our satisfaction with our tasks is minimal and we don’t live up to our full potential.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.

When you’re in the zone, your mind is 100% engaged. You are so focused that nothing can distract you from the task at hand.
You have no room for other thoughts, distractions, tasks, desires or worries. You’re so totally engaged that everything else fades to the background.
In the zone you have the ability to control your consciousness. Focus your attention at will, You are oblivious to distractions and you can concentrate for as long it takes to achieve a goal.
How do you drop into the Zone?
Step #1: Choose a Challenging Task
While you certainly don’t have to mountain climb, there are ways to set yourself up for success.
When choosing your task/goal, ask yourself these questions:
What is my most important task right now?
What one thing would make everything else in my life easier?
What would make the most difference for me personally or professionally?
Step #2: Set Clear Goals on What You’re Trying to Achieve when you drop into the zone
You must set a time limit for yourself and then choose what you’re going to accomplish during that time.
This means don’t work on email, respond to text messages or get engaged in conversations on Skype or Slack
Don’t let anything keep you from achieving your goal!
Step #3: Cut Out All Distractions
Try these techniques for eliminating distractions:
If you’re hungry, get something to eat.
Put your phone on silent or even airplane mode.
Close all unnecessary tabs on your browser.
Close your door or put on headphones.
Step #4: Eliminate Multitasking
You must become so immersed in one thing that all other things fade away. And really, why would we want to multitask when we’re trying to get our most important work done?
Step #5: Strengthen Your Concentration
How can you ensure that your concentration is at peak capacity?
One of the primary ways is to ensure that you get enough sleep.
High performers know that sleep is absolutely essential to peak performance.
Step # 6: Monitor Your Emotional State
At times, your emotional state will determine whether or not you can enter the zone. When you find your emotions impairing you, take a break, or a wall and then come back to the task at hand.
To enter the zone, you might create a ritual might look like this:
Take 10 deep, cleansing breaths.
Close your door.
Close your email.
Put your phone on mute or in airplane mode.
Mute all notifications on chat applications.
If you want, put on your headphones or turn on your audio player and music that brings you into the zone.
