And don’t just make it your New Year’s resolution. Practice these simple tips all year-round.

Now, let’s look at 12 easy ways to show love to yourself and increase your health and happiness.

Developing Your Self-Awareness

We all have the power to change our lives, but it’s hard to know where to start. Developing your self-awareness is vital if you want to become a better version of yourself and create a happy, meaningful and fulfilling life.

Self-awareness is understanding who you are. It is understanding how you think, feel, and act in different situations.

This involves recognizing your strengths and weaknesses. Your awareness allows you to gain insight into your motivations and underlying needs.

If you’re like most people, you probably struggle to develop your self-awareness. This is because it requires lots of reflection and honest self-assessment.

But when you do, it can be magical. You’ll gain an understanding of what truly motivates you and why.

This will help you make decisions that are aligned with your values. Being aligned with your values will help you feel better about who you are and what you’re doing.

You’ll also be able to identify what triggers negative emotions like anger or sadness in yourself. Understanding this will allow you to take steps towards dealing with them in healthier ways.

And this is truly how you show yourself some love.

The journey of self-awareness can be hard, but it’s one of the most important investments you can make. Your understanding of who you are will allow you to build relationships with those around you.

It helps you become emotionally intelligent, so you can lead with integrity.  Ultimately, it will help you create a life that is rich and meaningful.

Use these strategies to help you become more self-aware:

1. If you want to show yourself some love you need to reflect daily.

Reflection helps you stay in touch with your thoughts and feelings. Set aside time every day to sit down in a quiet space and observe what’s on your mind without making judgements.

Just a few minutes of daily contemplation can make a tremendous difference in how you feel about yourself.

2. Ask for feedback.

You don’t know what you don’t know. Others will definitely notice things you miss. Ask anyone who is or has been in a relationship.

The best way to get this information is by asking for feedback from people you trust.

Listen to them with an open mind. Try to find relevant information you can use, even if you disagree with some points.

When you find points that you agree with, use them to improve who you are. This is a great way to show yourself some love.

3. Take personality tests.

Personality tests can give you valuable insight. They can tell you lots of things about you that you might miss otherwise.

You can find these online and in magazines.

One thing about all these tests is they have their limits. Still, you may gain some excellent insights, especially if you notice reoccurring patterns.

If you do, show yourself some love and deal with them.

4. Be honest.

Examining yourself can take courage but it is a true sign of self-love. Your self-examination can help you better accept yourself just as you are.

Through your self-assessment, you can figure out what you want out of life. This knowledge will help you align your actions with your goals.

Now all you have to do is hold yourself accountable for your actions.

Protecting Your Health

Taking care of yourself isn’t about making sacrifices. It’s about investing in your future.

When you choose to make the right choices, you’re not only improving your current health you’re also making sure you’ll stay as healthy as possible for years to come.

Whether it’s exercising, eating a balanced diet, or drinking plenty of water, show yourself some love and make them habits. With small changes, you can build lasting habits that protect you from diabetes, obesity, and other serious health issues.

No matter if it’s reaching for an apple instead of a candy bar, going for a walk instead of sitting on the couch, or putting down the soda and picking up a glass of water, you are loving yourself. Each time you choose a healthy habit you’re reinforcing healthy behaviors and affirming your commitment to take care of yourself.

So don’t think of your positive habits as sacrifices. They are signs that you care about yourself, now and in the future.

Show yourself some love using self-care.

It’s always worth it!

Here’s some suggestions for increasing self-care:

1. Eat healthily.

One of the best ways to show yourself some love is to nourish yourself with delicious whole foods. This doesn’t mean you have to give up all your favorite dishes and snacks, just eat them in moderation.

You can also make eating feel more special by setting the table and using your best dishes even when you’re eating alone.

2. Show yourself some love by making sleep important.

According to the CDC, an adult should aim for 7 to 9 hours of high-quality rest each night. To help, you can create soothing bedtime rituals like reading classic novels and sipping chamomile tea. You might also take a warm bath and wear soft pajamas.

One thing you should absolutely do is keep your bedroom dark and quiet.

3. Make exercise a priority.

Does working out feel like a chore? It doesn’t have to be!

You can show yourself some love by finding ways to have more fun with your fitness program. You don’t have to run or go to the gym. Find something you enjoy doing.

Look online for free video programs. Invite a friend to join you or take group classes. Listen to music or use apps that gamify your exercise activities.

Make fitness fun!

4. An excellent way to show yourself some love is to find ways to manage stress.

In addition to exercise, you can release tension by taking time to slow down and breathe deeply. You can do this by meditating or doing breathing exercise like Qigong.

You might also take up a new hobby like vegetable gardening or sketching faces. Just playing with your kids and petting your dog can be very helpful.

Show Yourself Some Love by Boosting Your Happiness

Finding ongoing happiness is a journey that never ends. It’s like a huge Lego puzzle, with pieces that must be put together slowly but surely.

To start your quest for greater joy and contentment, it helps to remember one simple truth.

You have power over your own happiness.

Believing in this truth can shift your entire outlook on life. When you recognize that you are in control of how you feel, it can give you the courage to take risks and trust in yourself.

This will allow you to make bold changes.

Remember – no matter what difficult situations arise, you have the power to rise above them and find the silver lining.

But simply believing won’t be enough. You must actively work to increase your feelings of happiness.

Make time each day to do something you enjoy.

This could be listening to music, going for a walk, or reading a book. Notice how your body and mind respond to things like physical movement, fresh air, and small acts of kindness.

Look out for moments of peace and connection that bring you joy. Keep a journal of these moments and review them regularly to remind yourself of how far you’ve come.

Show yourself some love.

By connecting with yourself and trusting that you have the power to determine your state of wellbeing, you will experience more and more moments of joy and serenity. So don’t forget.

You hold the key to your own happiness.

Here’s How to Boost your Happiness:

Whether you’re the one being funny, or you just enjoy listening to others tell jokes, humor is an important life skill. If you want to show yourself some love, take some time to enjoy laughter every day.

A wonderful way to show respect for others and love for yourself is to try to see the funny side of difficult situations. This takes away the tension and can help you find the right solution.

Watch movies that make you laugh.

Visit a comedy club on your next date night and follow comedians on social media. Read their books.
